Homes are meant to be used, touched, lived in and loved in. Over the years, many second homes have fallen into a state of disrepair and this villa was no different. In order to rescuscitate this ten year old villa, the owners envisioned a vacation rental project.
Nestled amongst the lush greenery on the outskirts of Mumbai, this villa had earthy and somewhat vernacular roots while offering a playfulness that is sorely missed in city homes. Our role was to preserve this form and the original woodwork, while updating and repairing the structure both inside and out. The owners were also keen to add a swimming pool to make it luxurious.
In order to make the project stand out amongst a barrage of online listings, the concept was woven around a fantasy of a place called "Elsewhere", where there are azure skies, and a slight scent of rain, a scoop of seafoam, a whisper of dandelions. And you reach just in time for moonrise.
