Residential Architecture
On the plains abutting the Indrayani river, a grove of majestic Acacia trees screens the farmhouse from the north. The south of site boasts of endless fields that kiss the foothills of the lofty Sahyadris.
The house is oriented as a threshold that frames and connects the landscape on the north and the south. The living room acts as a semi enclosed bridge that enables this connection. The Sahyadris are carefully framed through the eastern wing of four bedrooms. The western wing on the other hand is enrobed in dappled sunlight as it sits under the glade of existing trees on the site.
Walls of brick form a series of staggered plains, creating a gradient of privacy as one moves throughout the house. A warm wooden entryway greets the user and ushers them inside. Raw concrete enrobes the structure, outlined by the simple charm of raw Kota stones at the bottom and shingled roofs at the top.
